Air Conditioning Photo Album: Gas Furnace and Air Conditioner Replacement in Magnolia, NJ
The old furnace and air conditioner in this home had served the homeowners for 22-years but the end finally came. The air conditioner used the banned Freon R-22 and had sprung a refrigerant leak. It would cost thousands of dollars to find and fix the leak and recharge with recovered R-22. That didn't make sense to the client or to Alber Service Company. The old down-flow furnace sat on top of the air conditioner A-coil so the only way to upgrade the AC system to one that didn't need R-22 was to remove the furnace and install a new coil. They decided to upgrade the furnace and air conditioner at the same time to save money and hassle.
They opted for a 97% efficient American Standard 2-stage, variable speed furnace and a 17 SEER American Standard multispeed air conditioner. The furnace and air conditioner both change their output to deliver precise temperature control. By delivering more heat or air conditioning during extreme weather and less when it's mild, they are "ON" at just the right output to satisfy the thermostat. This really improves comfort all year and humidity control in the summer cooling season.
And they look great and are very quiet.
Old Air Conditioner
This old Lennox air conditioner was loud, rusty, and leaked refrigerant. It was also costing way more to operate than any reasonable homeowner wants to spend. Time to go!
New American Standard 17 SEER Air Conditioner
Now that's better. Super efficient, super quiet, and looks great. The paint on American Standard equipment is really long lasting. This unit will still look great in 20-years if properly maintained.
Old Furnace
This was really loud when heating and parts were hard to find. You can see the air conditioning coil installed under the furnace because this system blows air down into a crawlspace not up like you'll find in most houses.
New Gas Furnace and AC Coil
That really looks great. This furnace is super quiet. All connections between the furnace, ductwork, coil, and floor are sealed with caulk to prevent leakage in this small utility closet. No sense having a 100-degree closet in the winter when that heat can be used elsewhere.
