Air Conditioning Photo Album: Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump in Mt. Ephraim, NJ 08059
What's the solution for making a garage comfortable all year? No, it's not for an exotic car. Our client wanted to use his garage as a gym for home workouts but was dying in the summer and freezing in the winter. First, he insulated the garage and added sheet rock. Then he tried a window air conditioner but it didn't make a dent in the heat of July. And a portable electric heater raised his electric bill through the roof while barely taking the edge off the January cold.
To solve his problem we installed a super high efficiency DuraStar ductless mini-split heat pump. This system produces 18,000 BTUs of heat even when it's 5-degrees outside. That's enough to keep the 2-car garage in the mid-60s when it's that cold outside. It can cool the garage to 65-degrees when it's sunny and 95-degrees outside. And it's so efficient his electric bill has seen a minimal bump since installation. Fit and comfortable thanks to Alber Service Company.
The Empty Wall
This wall is opposite the space he uses for exercise. It's the perfect location because the air will blow across the garage towards his gym area. His car will also be more comfortable when he gets into it in the morning.
Installed indoor unit
Here's the finished product inside. It looks great up there! You can see the wireless remote control mounted on the wall. What you can't see is the tubing and wiring that go thru the wall in back of this unit to the heat pump outside.
Outside Before the Installation
No, that's not the new heat pump! That's a 12-year old mini-split air conditioner that cools the art studio on the second floor above the garage.
New Outdoor heat Pump
There's the new one! The brown enclosure hides the piping and wiring that connect the outdoor unit to the indoor unit on the wall. You can also see the conduit and wiring in the small galvanized pipe. This carries power from the circuit breaker panel on the opposite side of the garage.
