Heating Photo Album: New HVAC System in Mantua, NJ
Let's bring this HVAC system into the 21st century. Instead of a 58% efficient furnace from 1960, lets use a modern American Standard (Trane) that is 97% efficient and features 2-stage operation and a variable speed blower. Two-stage operation more precisely matches the house's actual heating needs by changing capacity. And the variable speed
What's the best way to deal with the intense summer heat and humidity during South Jersey's summers? A properly sized, high-efficiency, multi-speed American Standard (Trane) air conditioner. There was a Lennox air conditioner in this house that had been installed by a previous owner in 2019 so it was only 6-years old. But it was costing a fortune to operate and the client just wasn't comfortable.
The American Standard 17 SEER air conditioner runs at three different outputs depending on how hot it is outside. This provides really long "ON" cycles that deliver precise temperature control as well as superior humidity removal. We also added an Energy Star rated Sedona dehumidifier in the basement to deal with dampness and odors.
Cool, dry, and happy. That's how we like our customers in the summer!
Old furnace
This beast was from 1960 and was still working when we removed. It was costing a fortune to operate so it was time to go.
New American Standard 97% Efficient Gas Furnace
This looks great and works great. It vents in PVC pipe so there's no safety issues with a clogged chimney. And we added an external filter slot with a door for easy filter replacement. Nice job!
Old Air Conditioner
It's not really all that old but it was causing the electric meter to spin like a helicopter in the summer. The client also was unhappy with its ability to handle high humidity. The house just never felt cool and dry.
New 17 SEER American Standard Air Conditioner
This also looks great and it is almost silent when it operates. The 2-in PVC pipes you see coming through the wall behind the AC are the intake and vent pipe terminations for the new furnace.
Sedona High Efficiency Dehumidifier
It removes over 100-pints of water per day using minimal electricity. It has a powerful blower that delivers dry air all the way to the other side of the basement. Mold doesn't have a chance!
