Air Sealing and Blown in Insulation in Willingboro, NJ
Before
After
These homeowners were never comfortable upstairs. Their home was built in the 1950's and had the original insulation which was only 2-in thick and had been removed in spots. The summer sun heated the attic to 120 degrees and the poor insulation didn't keep that heat from going right through the second floor ceiling.
The first measure we installed was attic air sealing. The insulation was moved and all wall tops and penetrations around wires and pipes were sealed with expanding spray foam. This keeps the conditioned air in the home from leaking into the attic. Next, we added 16-inches of blown in cellulose insulation. The R-value of the insulation increased from R-7 to R-51 which means 67% less heat is transferred through the ceiling!
The home is now comfortable all year and our clients are glad to refer us to family and friends.

This Columbus, NJ homeowner need more space. They did not want to move nor did they want to spend the money to do an addition. Fortunately, they had a beautiful sunroom on the back of the home begging to be used more often. But it was too hot in the summer and so cold in the winter. They called us to see what heating and cooling options we had so they could stay in their beautiful home. We installed a Fujitsu Ductless Mini-Split Heat Pump. This space now can be used in the chilly, early days of spring, to the hottest days of the summer through to the last harsh days of winter. Whether you just want a peaceful place to read the paper and drink your coffee, or you need a second family room for TV viewing and entertaining, turning this sunroom into an all year round space was an economical and relatively quick alternative to a complete room addition or moving.
This homeowner needed a new heating an air conditioning system. We were able to meet and exceed their goals and get the systems installed quickly. They qualified for a $250 Warm Advantage Rebate and a $300 Cool Advantage Rebate.

Job Stories From Burlington County, NJ
David Marshall
This house was rated by the homeowner as being mostly comfortable. However there were a few areas that were anything but. The living and family rooms, where the family spent large amounts of their time, were far too cold in the winter, to the extent that the family was running space heaters to keep them comfortable. In addition to these problems, the basement and crawlspace were producing a musty smell, and there was concern about mold growing in them.
Correcting the issue with the living room required correcting the issues with the attic. The attic flat was sealed with high-density foam, and then nine inches of cellulose insulation were added to the (vastly insufficient) three inches of existing fiberglass, to a total insulation value of R-43.
Similarly, making the family room comfortable required insulating the crawlspace. This was done with two inch foam board installed against the walls, and two-part high density foam applied to the rim joists. This will keep the crawl at a similar temperature to the conditioned space, keeping the room above comfortable year-round.
